How To Make A Cheerleading Team

Cheerleading is a year round sport but it does has its end and beginning to its year long season. Since try-out season is well on its way, here are some tips on how to make a cheerleading team for perspective yell leaders. "Any one can be a cheerleader, if you have the spirit and will to work hard," said Aaron Martin.

Step one: you need to find out when try-out days are and fill out the paper work that needs to be filled

Step two: attend clinic to learn the cheer material that will need to be performed in front of the judges which will include a dance, a couple cheers, kicks, jumps, and stunting.

step three: make sure you practice your material and have everything remembered.

Step Four: Show up to try-outs ready to perform the material in front of the judges

step five: Do not get nervous. "remember to always smile, be confident and look like you know what your doing. You do not necessarily need cheerleading experience to become a cheerleader, you just have to have the personality, confidence and the will to work hard. If you can demonstrate this to the judges, we will see that you have a great potential to the team," said Coach Aaron Martin.

Being a cheerleader is hard work, but anyone can be a cheerleader if you have the heart and will to become one.

I interviewed some of my fellow classmates on behalf of their photos. A few that I interviewed about their photos include Brian, Monica and Anita.

Brian's Photo is of his dog Angel at the dog park. Brian took his dog to the dog park to celebrate his 2nd birthday. Angel is a maltese and has had Angel since he was a little puppy. A cute little dog and seems like he is loving and full of energy

Monica's photo is of her job during reading time. She works at the Sheperds of the Hills church in Porter Ranch. The audience ranges from kindergartners to 5th graders.

Anita's photo is of her adorable little yorkie dog named Shia. Anita took her dog to the dog park with her sister and her dog Ginger. Shia was running around playing with Anitas sisters dog Ginger. Anita spends alot of time with her dog she has had since Shia was 4 months old.

Citizen Artists Making Emphatic Statements

Artists express themselves seemingly through their art. On July 12 through September 13, 2008 they expressed their work at the “Citizen Artists Making Emphatic Statements” event. This event took place at 18th Street Art Complex in Santa Monica.

The artwork reflects on how “the fruit relates to the public and how the public relates to the fruit” stated David Burns of Fallen Fruit.

This show is about artists joining together with scientists and researchers and communicating with the people through the artists art, raising awareness on what is occurring in the neighborhood and all around the world and more specifically in the topic of fruit.

How To Get On An Elevator

(download)
There are days when you are too exhausted, tired and out of energy. You have no desire to take the many staircases of CSUN, so instead you take the elevator. Not only is it easier than climbing numerous stairs, but it’s easy as one, two, three.  Here are eight simple steps on how to get on and ride an elevator.

To get on an elevator you need to:

1.    Approach the elevator

2.    To go up, you must press the top button

3.    Wait for the elevator to arrive and for the doors to open

4.    Step into the elevator

5.    Press the desired button for the floor you want to go to

6.    Wait and enjoy the elevator ride

7.    Wait for the doors to open and exit the elevator

8.    You have arrived at your destination

Elevators are convenient for everyday use especially if you’re trying to avoid the stairs. Make sure you have an elevator, your two legs and your pointer finger to make this possible. So on those tiring days just enjoy the ride, the elevator ride.

LA public Library Budget Cuts

In the Los Angeles Times, they point out that the budget cuts have affected many of the centeral, regional and library branches in the county. In the article it states that the libraries had to have a reduction of schedule because of the lack of funds. Many employees were laid off as well as over 20 full-time librarians. Oneil Dennis tells the LA Times that he goes to the library on average of two to three times a day during his lunch break. but that he would rather have the cuts then the libraries be closed permenantly.  http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/lnacademic/?

In the Library Journal, they discuss the budget and how 15% of the libraries budget in all of the Los Angeles areas will decrease as well as having a reduction of 28% in staff, reducing hours of operation and eliminating days the libraries are open. In this article they interview a librarian who says that the budget cuts have affected everyone. In decrease in staff, days, hours eliminates the proper use of what the libraries are intended for. http://www.libraryjournal.com/lj/community/managinglibraries/884109-273/los_angeles_public_library_faces.html.csp

In the Los Angeles Daily News, it discusses how the city board of library comissioners asked to put a $39 a year parcel tax put into this years November ballot. It goes into depth on how it would greatly improve the libraries situation. Just like the other two articles, it also talks about the lay offs, the reduction in hours and days of operations.

Punjabi Tadka Snacks Review

A. Punjabi Tadka by Haldram's looks subtle and like a foreign, skinnier version of Frito Twists. These thin pieces of potatoes are crunchy and are very spicy. They have a kick of spice to them that will have you coughing and reaching for the nearest drink. After you get over the overwhelming spice, Punjabi Tadka are actually appetizing. If you do not favor anything spicy, Punjabi Tadka is definitely not for you. For spicy lovers, Punjabi Tadka can be a nice and delightful treat to your taste buds.

B. I was a Little hesitant to try Punjabi Tadka, simply for the fact that I have never seen or heard of such thing and the fact that foreign food products scare me a bit. I did not know what to expect other than to try it and give it a shot. To my surprise, they were not bad, in fact I liked them. What caught be off guard was the spice to them. The Punjabi Tadka is spicy and is overwhelming the first try, but to my liking I enjoyed them. I enjoy just about anything spicy so it was in my alley of spiciness. I definitely do not recommend anyone who does not like spicy anything to try these.

Last semester I had the worst experience with collaborating with another student for my Diversity and Media class. Knowing that collaborating with another person can sometimes be difficult, I decided to give working with someone for a project another shot. The work load for the project was heavy so having a person to help out with the load would ease it a bit but was I wrong. This person after telling them numerous times still did not get or understand the topic we needed to do research and create a portfolio for. After they finally got the topic, we split the researching but they came back with research that did not fit into our topic. I had to continue the research myself and make up for what they lacked. After I had to do just about everything for this project, I gave my partner the task of creating the bibliographies for our references. Days later before our presentation, they hand me the bibliographies, all which were completely and in no form or way in mla or apa style. So I yet again had to re-due all the bibliographies and not to mention all this during finals week. Come presentation time, I did all the talking while they stood in the background. They did make certain points in the presentation but they did not endure the burden that had to carry for the project. This is why I dislike collaborating with others because I cannot depend on others to get the work done or get it done the right way. I live by "you can only depend on yourself and no one else" and I believe that it pertains to all aspects of life.  Thats why I would rather work alone and have it done the right way than collaborating with someone and have to depend on them to get work done and if that the correct way.
